On November 4, 1954, the feast of San Carlos, Las Dalias opened its doors. What began as a roadside bar with a dance floor has become a true legend of Ibiza today, a symbol whose history is an essential part of the history and culture of the island in these last six decades.
Las Dalias carries music in its DNA, and that is how in 1997, with the incorporation of the musician and promoter Chris González to the staff of the house, the programming is resumed. During these years, figures such as Nina Hagen, Paul Collins, Lee Rocker, Javier Vargas, Loquillo, Carlos Segarra, Coque Malla, Charlie García, Javi Andreu, Nel.lo & la banda del Zoco or Nacho García Vega have passed.
It is in this second decade of the 21st century when Las Dalias takes the leap off the island with Las Dalias On The Road, an adventure that has taken us to Amsterdam in 2014 and 2016. Madrid was also able to enjoy, in 2010 and 2011, our market, our performances and the purest Las Dalias style during two camps held at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid.
But perhaps it is the musical aspect that has developed the most during these last years, turning Las Dalias into a pilgrimage point for great stars of the national and also international music scene. The performance of Manu Chao, with more than 4,000 attendees, was a turning point and demonstrated Las Dalias’ ability to organize an event of these dimensions with solvency.
The good work during all these years has been recognized with different awards. The most recent has been awarded by Diario de Ibiza to the Business Initiative for “its long trajectory, its ability to maintain its roots and at the same time adapt to the new times and its important contribution to the cultural offer of the island”. The City Council of Santa Eulària des Riu has recognized Las Dalias as a Place of Tourist Interest and the Balearic Government has awarded us the 2016 Tourism Award. Awards that we appreciate and value and that drive us to continue working and improving. But without a doubt the best prize is that of all the visitors we receive every year and who come back to see us every summer.
